We are excited to share back a video demonstrating our brand new keyboard shortcuts on www.facebook.com! These shortcuts are intended to help you quickly perform some common actions on Facebook. Use the J and K keys to navigate between posts in News Feed, comment with C, like with L and share a post with the S key. Today, along with others around the world, we celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPwD) which promotes the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all aspects of society and development. While this year presented immense challenges which have been acutely felt by people with disabilities, it has also brought advancements in accessibility. As we recognize IDPwD and 2020 draws to a close, here are a few of the many accessibility highligh...ts at Facebook this year.

•We introduced a getting started guide on how to make social media posts more accessible which included tips such as adding image descriptions and uploading captions along with videos.
•On Global Accessibility Awareness Day(GAAD), we announced that Facebook was taking the GAAD pledge and committing to making the React Native mobile framework fully accessible.
•We redesigned Facebook.com, making it faster and easier to use for people using screen readers, and offering Dark Mode which is more comfortable for many people with low vision and light sensitivity.
•Adding to the automated captioning tools available for Pages and ads, we introduced auto-generated video captioning for Facebook Live, Workplace Live, and Instagram TV.
•Oculus from Facebook Reality Labs (FRL) introduced a suite of VR Accessibility checks for developers to help ensure next generation technologies like virtual reality are also accessible.

We’re excited to continue advancing accessibility in 2021. We look forward to making more progress towards building tools that help everyone access the communities and conversations on Facebook.

If you’ve ever wondered about the current state of assistive technology, and more importantly, where it’s heading, you’ll want to tune in to the first annual Sight Tech Global conference to benefit the Vista Center for the Blind & Visually Impaired. Sight Tech Global is a world-wide, virtual conference that brings together technology pioneers who are applying the latest technology advances to barrier-free navigation, human interaction, and low-friction access to information for people who are blind or visually impaired. Facebook is pleased to be a sponsor, enabling everyone to attend free of charge. The conference takes place Dec 2-3, though sessions are recorded so you can watch live or at a later time. Captioning is provided.
